Webinar: A Legacy of Collective Healing and Resistance

The Association of Black Psychologists (ABPsi) has been instrumental in decolonizing psychology and advancing the science of African/Black psychology as a framework for liberation, restoration, and collective healing. This presentation examines ABPsi’s historical foundations, resistance to Eurocentric paradigms, and contributions to the well-being of African-descended people. The presentation will also highlight ABPsi’s ongoing impact through its current innovative initiatives. Participants will engage with African/Black psychological principles and explore their application in professional practice and systemic advocacy.

As a key component of this session, participants will also experience components of a Sawubona Healing Circle, an interactive and reflective process grounded in African-centered Principles. The Circle will offer a guided space for participants to connect, be witnessed, and practice restorative dialogue as a model for community-based healing.
